Inspired by the authenticity of people and place, and responsive to the dramatic river and ledge features of the landscape, the architectural concept proposed by Silling for this project takes on a rustic minimalist character meant to sit lightly on the Wildridge Camp property.
Located near the camp arrival point, the Dining Hall will sit at the head of an open green space and provide constant orientation to the overall campus experience. The long front porch and cantilevered decks serve as a covered entry space for meal time while also providing group gathering spaces. The large dining area will also serve as a temporary Club Room for worship. The design is inspired by the simple materials of the logging industry sawmills that forms the historic background landscape of the Gauley River.
